mitchgissendaner
I haven’t purchased a Variax, but I want to. I own a Helix currently. Since alternate tuning are currently a part of the standard model, is it possible for the Helix pedal or something else to manipulate one string up to 1 or 1 and a half steps? jerseyboy
Saw this in Helix forum a while back - https://line6.com/support/topic/31186-b-bender-effect/ ‘haven’t studied details but if it can work well on B string can likely adapt to G string. I use HipShot B bender massaged onto old Variax 500 I had laying around. Quickly became one of my favorite C&W guitars. Tele-Lester-Special bridge models deliver solid steel guitar tones imo. phil_m
You can control the pitch of Variax strings with an expression pedal or any other controller in the Helix. The issue is that the Variax only controls pitch in discrete steps. It doesn't bend from one pitch to the other. I had recorded a clip a while back doing this with the B string. If you do it quickly, you can get some cool effects, but it doesn't really sound like a typical B or G bender.
