Once on your chosen patch - navigate to the setup screens - ensure INPUT screen selects VARIAX as at least one of the options - and then scroll through till you find the Variax screen. Change the setting from DONT FORCE. That will then allow you to pick a model on the Variax and will show it on the display - or you can scroll through the models from the HD500X. Once you have the one you want you can also set the TONE knob value if you don't want it at 100% for that patch. Hit save and it will remember the setting and change it whenever you hit that patch.
