electricfactory
Not long ago I got rid of a floor-version Helix but retained my Helix patches/ backups in case I decided to revisit the Helix. Am now considering the Helix LT, my question then is- can I load my aforementioned Helix patches into a Helix LT ?
silverhead
Yes. Helix Floor and Helix LT presets are fully compatible.

Given my stated studio end use is the LT every bit as good ?

As long as you don't need the ports of the full unit, yes, yes it is.

Thanks again, I don't really think I do. I'm going directly fron the unit to ProTools interface via XLR cord. That's it. The main thing is not losing all the work I've put into crafting patches. From what I can see online it appears the LT is not as robustly built and has less ports ?
robertgoddard
You can hook up the Helix (Floor or LT) up to the computer with the USB cable, you don't need any interface unless you are multi-track recording other instruments at the same time. Less I/O, different construction method and no scribble strips. Most people get hung up on the scribble strips the most, but the LT handles that in a very clever way. The screen has "Performance View" (which the floor model does not) and in that view your switch layout is presented as required. Presets, Snapshots & Stomp assignments (just as the scribble strips did) depending on the mode you are in.
