Using VDI for workbench and TRS to amp

Recommended Posts

Let me start by saying I already know that plugging both cables into an amp  or helix is not ok as it overloads the guitar. But I cant seem to find a solid answer to whether I can safely use the VDI to connect to workbench HD on my laptop and the TRS to my amp so I can hear the edits I make in real time. I just want to be completely sure before I just go on and plug both in. I'm extremely new to Variax and Workbench, so apologies if has already been touched.

Also, I've read multiple conversations concerning TRS Vs. TS. Is it a big deal either way which cable you use if running it to an amp? I would only use the standard cable for when I'm editing models through workbench, otherwise I'd be running my VDI to the amp.

Thanks!

Yes, that's fine. All the VDI interface is doing is passing data back and forth from the Variax to your computer. There's no audio (or power) being passed over that connection, so you're fine to use the 1/4" outs for audio.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick response!
