Hey everyone.
So i just spent 1200 EUR on this top quality piece of technology, yet 2 days in i'm already facing a HUGE problem.
I seriously hope I am being stupid and pressed some wrong button .

Basically, i was at my band practice, and all of the sudden the parameters (like time, gain, depth etc) on the pedals wouldnt change on the screen, however the sound changed. Also, when i pressed buttons, the lights wouldnt change, even though i could hear the pedal turning on or off.

I tried creating a new preset and added just 1 pedal and the same thing happened.

I turned the helix off and back on and it went back to normal.
HOWEVER, this is no fix. If this happened to me during a live set, i would be f***d. Am i being stupid? Did I do something wrong?
You help is much appreciated.

When it happens once it's an anomaly.

Happens twice, it's a problem.

Standard questions:

Are you using a proper surge arrestor/EMI/RFI filter?

Are you on the latest firmware (2.81)?

If NO, start there. READ AND FOLLOW THE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS!

If YES, are all your presets/setlists backed up?

Do a reset - reboot holding 9+10.

After all that, if it does it again, return it for a new one.

Thank you for the reply!
And sorry for the clickbaity title I was very frustrated at the moment.
The first question im not sure what it means
I am on 2.81.
Everything is backed up yes.

Was wondering if this is a common glitch or if i should be worried...

Not common. But it is a computer. Sometimes - not often, maybe twice in 2 years, I've had a hiccup. Restart has always fixed it, And it's never stopped - just a display glitch.

Hopefully that's the last one you will have for the next 2 years!

Search online for "surge protector", "surge arrestor", emi (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference).

If you're all backed up maintain that condition and if the unit locks up again, perform the reset I described.

As rvroberts pointed out, the Helix is a computer, as are all high end multi-fx units.

If absolute reliability is a life or death requirement, you'd better have a backup. A Stomp, a Flyrig, even a small traditional analog pedalboard.

Enough to get you through the show.

Remember: Chuck Berry didn't need no stinking computers to rock the world!
