XLR output *real* quiet

Recommended Posts

I'm playing through a Helix into the Power Cab using the Line 6 link.  I also want to record what I'm playing into my recorder.  I connect the XLR output into one of the inputs of my recorder and I get extremely low output.  The manual states it is line level, but the output I'm seeing is pretty weak.  Is there a setting somewhere to control the gain/output level?

I've tried both an XLR to TS and XLR to TRS cable into my mixer and same results, super low output.

Verify that your PC+ xlr output is set to line.  It also has the option of mic level which is much lower.

Hi, thanks for the info.

Where exactly can you set that?  I don't see it in the Pilot's guide.  That guide just says it's a line out.

"Connect to an analog mixer's input. This output is Line Level with a maximum of +13dBu."

See PC+ manual pages 7, 17, and 19:

12. & 13. XLR Output Jacks - Connect to a mixer's input. The output level is switchable between Line Level (+13dBu) or Mic Level (~0.0dBu) - see "Global Settings" on page 17.

Global Settings

These global parameters allow you to optimize the Powercab Plus system for your particular needs, whether it be for practice, on stage or in the studio. These settings are persistent (automatically saved) and not part of the preset data.

1. To view Global Settings, press and hold HOME.

2. Turn the SELECT knob to scroll up and down the Global Settings list; press SELECT to toggle between scrolling the list and setting values.

Thanks for the tip. My PowerCab112 Plus "Direct Out Level" was set to MIC, as delivered from the factory.
