Recommended Posts

Any suggestions on how I can get a BIG sound with my POD HD desktop

2 amps?

Mixer settings?

Chorus effects?

etc....

Thanks!

One way is to take the same amp model x2. Mix both to the center, but use different mic combinations on each. My favorite is SM57, one on-axis, one off-axis.

Another way is to mix and match one clean-ish amp with one more distorted, hard pan these L-R. Suggest AC30 + Dual Rectifier. For this arrangement, I put a digital delay in one of the signal paths, 100% wet with a very short delay time (24ms or so). Gives you a little bit of separation between the two signals.

Here's a preset that's for the HD500 that might be something of what you're looking for.

Can you describe what's in that preset?

Most big sounds come from doubling or quad tracking the guitars. Are you doing that?

I've had better results from 2 of the same amp with 2 different cabs, rather than two different amps, although obviously ymmv.

As ever, meambobbo's guide contains a wealth of information on the subject.
