Recommended Posts

I am about to purchase a jtv 89 f ol but the guy does'nt have a cable with it, and he says the modeler pots don't work with just a 1/2 cable, it needs the variax cabel vci for the pots to work. can anyone tell me if thats accurate ?

If you don't have a Helix or other Line 6 product with a VDI input AND a VDI cable, you need a battery.

Don't forget the charger.

Or a power supply

The pots will work no matter what. I'm pretty sure he was talking about controlling the pots from a device like the Helix. You need it for that. Either way, the modelling needs power from somewhere. The analog mags will always work.

There's nothing magical about the pots... the model and alt tuning knobs are just selector switches. The brains of the guitar is the main board, which as already mentioned requires power. Either from a battery, or supplied from a compatible Line 6 device (Helix, POD  etc) via the VDI cable.
