Upper bass lower midrange compression on Strat

I have a 2015 American Standard Strat with Fat 50s pickups. I love the sound of this guitar. Lately it seems that the D and G strings have a compressed sound when I play single note leads. I have a preset with a plexi Marshall amp set with two speaker cabs. When I play chords I don’t hear the compressed tone. Any ideas?

Without seeing or hearing your actual preset.... I can only lend my general opinion on Strats.

I have always found them to sound somewhat "compressed" compared to most other guitars. This is more pronounced on the 2/4 positions and/or if the pickups are set too high (or strings to low).
