ezut
Does anyone know a good recipe for when to set the "In-Z" parameter on the input?
silverhead
Presumably, the Auto setting is the recipe you want. That’s what it’s there for.
ezut
Then why the rest? I do not understand.I thought there is some recipe for what to use for sc pickup or humbucker.

It’s all preference. You’ll probably notice the effect of lower impedance settings more with single coils than with humbuckers. If you use a low input Z with a fuzz pedal and single coils pickups, you’ll notice the tone starts to glassier and cleans up very nicely as you turn the guitar volume down. You don’t get that as much with humbuckers.
ezut
Thanks. If I understand correctly, is low impedance recommended for sc pickup and higher for humbucker?

The only thing that's "recommended" in the modeling world is to try different things and use whatever settings work for you. If it sounds good, it is good... fixating of theoretical "optimal" settings for any given scenario is the fastest route to becoming dissatisfied with your tones and gear. If you get locked into some alleged "correct" way to do things instead of simply allowing your ears to tell you what sounds good, you'll never try anything new.... and in so doing, you can easily miss out on something that might make the difference between being happy with your gear, or becoming embroiled in a constant search for satisfaction that never comes. There is no "right" or "wrong" setting for input impedance, or any other parameter. Pickup outputs are all over the map...arbitrarily assigning 'X' impedance for single coils, and 'Y' for humbuckers is pointless. And having fiddled with the impedance settings quite a bit myself, you'll find that the difference from one to the next is rather subtle anyway...you're not gonna hear a night and day difference.

qwerty42
If you want to understand what it is and how it works, here's a post that should answer any and all questions: https://line6.com/support/topic/55903-disabled-distortion-pedals-muffle-amp-sound/?do=findComment&comment=336422
