Cozzavillain
Hi all, Firstly, major major noob when it comes to digital gear here, so please forgive my complete and utter ignorance. In my youth, I played in heavy metal bands that ended up doing a fair amount of gigging (low key!) and my amp of choice was a Marshall 1/2 stack with a 5150 head. I had 2 pedals, tuner and a noise gate, but that was it - pure chug, simple set up - easy for an idiot like me. Since then, I sold all my gear (bar my guitars!) and kept a small practice amp that just died. Fast forward to today and I’ve just purchased a Helix floor model. Great I thought, I don’t even need an amp, I’ll just plug it into my iMac via USB and away I go. Clearly, I was mistaken as this hasn’t worked. I have no external speakers, just my iMac internal speakers but was hoping this would be sufficient. I really want to keep the Helix, I had a good hour long play on it in the shop and love the idea of it, but I don’t want to have to invest in more gear to play it... am I being massively unrealistic? I do feel genuinely stupid, but can anyone suggest an easy way for me to get playing, preferably without having to outlay yet more cash? Apologies for my ignorance, but any help would be amazing!
