Pod HD500X Wah/Volume Expression pedal not working

I have purchased a second hand Pod HD500X.  I have installed the latest firmware and reset the presets to default. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers and software.

So far I have tested many of the presets and they seem to be OK.  The switches seem to work ok to turn on effects or changes presets. I have not tried the looper functionality yet.

I decided to try to see how the Wah pedal worked.  I found a standard preset with Wah and Volume pedals setup. 1A Son of Plexi.  The Expression pedal can switch between the Volume function and the Wah function, but the function of the pedal to alter the volume or create a wah-wah effect does not seem to work.  I have also tried following a youtube tutorial to set up the pedal. All looked correct and again the pedal switch works to turn it on and off, but there is otherwise no noticeable variation to the effect when I depress or lift the pedal.

Is the pedal broken?  Is there anyway to be test it?

Thanks for any response to this.

Graham

The proper way to see if the pedal is working fine is by doing the pedal calibration, link here for instructions:

https://line6.com/support/page/kb/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161/

If you do it and all the results are as they should be you can be sure that the pedal is OK,

if not, maybe that the internal cable that connects the pedal to the mainboard is disconnected, or maybe that the pedal optical sensors are gone.

EDIT:

I forgot to say that even if the pedal changes successfully from EXP1 to EXP2 it doesn't necessarily mean that the Wah or Volume are there ready to be used.

In order to have the Wah and/or Volume working with the pedal, the corresponding effects must be present in the chain and assigned to EXP1 or EXP2.

Thank you so much for this!

Re-calibrated the pedal and it is working properly now.  I am not expecting to use wah much, but I am so grateful to know that everything is ok.

Thanks again.
