HX Stomp Stereo Amps Routing trouble...help!

Hey y’all! First post here. I’m gonna try to explain this as clearly as possible, but it’s kind of confusing, so bear with me and let me know if you can help.

I’m running my pedalboard into the front of the HX Stomp (no FX loops or effects after the Stomp). The last pedals in my chain are a mono input into my Timeline > L/R out into my Big Sky > L/R out to the L/R ins of the HX Stomp, which is then running L/R out to a stereo DI into FOH. Easy peasy. Both channels are working and receiving signal at the board.

I’m trying to run the Essex AC30 and the Matchless Jump in true stereo. I split the AC30 and its IR on path A, and the Matchless and its IR on path B. I panned path A hard L and path B hard R on both the split and the merge. After the merge, I then put a stereo EQ and a stereo compressor at modest settings before hitting the Out.

SO, the problem I’m having is that one of the channels is receiving the amp, IR, EQ and compressor with no issues. The OTHER channel however is only receiving my Big Sky’s Reverb (and maybe the delay) from my board. It’s like it’s only receiving the wet effects, but no dry signal.

It’s so weird and I’ve been wracking my brain like CRAZY to try to figure out what the heck I’m doing wrong.

SO...that’s my long-winded explanation. Any ideas?

Where are the Send and Return Blocks? If you have an Amp and IR on Path A, and another amp and IR on Path B, plus an EQ and a Compressor, you're already using 6 blocks out of 6.

If you use A+C on both paths (no IRs, merge panned hard L/R), then put a Stereo FX Loop L/R Block after the Merge, followed by stereo eq and comp, you get true stereo from the amps. To make this happen with the Timeline in the loop you need a proper Insert cable (1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" Mono) in the send, and you need to use both the Ins on the Strymon with 1/4" TS cables from the Strymon Outs to the Returns. Obviously, this scheme uses the Strymon as two MONO delays, but it's true stereo in the end. Example preset attached.

EDIT: Sorry, think I sent the wrong version. This one should be right.

Thanks for the responses, y'all.

Yes, the Timeline was set to the "Stereo In/Out."

I tried the description above and was still having problems...

Luckily, I completely removed the Stereo EQ and Comp from the chain, and then when I put them back in, all my problems went away, so it must have been some kind of glitch.

Either way, it's resolved now. Thanks!

I have noticed that HX stomp in stereo mode (with a split and a couple of Amp+Cab or IR for left and right channel) has sometimes  very strange behavior : sometime no sound on one channel, sometime no sound at all when loading a preset with IR from a cab preset... Power off/on the unit would solve these....

If you can consistently reproduce that behavior you should open a support ticket.

I turned mine on this morning and had NO sound. That hasn't happened in months. AARGH!

Welcome to the club.

I have a suspicion that this happens sometimes when plugging in the power supply to power up the HX Stomp. In the very first moment of powering up (the moment of plugging into the grid) the device might be powered with slightly to low voltage which might lead to glitches.

Just a guess though.

Interesting thoughts. If it keeps happening, I'll open a support ticket.

If it's as easy as just shutting it off/on or removing the comp or EQ from the chain and putting it back, I don't foresee it being a huge problem.

It's just nice to know that I wasn't doing something wrong in the routing, because I could not figure it out for the LIFE of me.
