Hx Stomp: Toggling on/off multiple effects with 1 footswitch

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a hx stomp. Is it possible to set it up with one preset where you have:

- Say 3 modulation/reverb/delay effects that together make an ambient tone
- A boost
- An amp sim
- A basic reverb

Where the default is just the amp sim and reverb being on for a basic tone

Then set up the 2 external footswitches so that

- fs4 turns on the 3 modulations/reverb/delays by toggling it on and off hence giving an ambient sound on/off
- fs5 turns the boost on and off for solos

I think these are called stompshots. The important thing is it toggles them on/off unlike snapshots

Yes, IF you have sufficient DSP for your chosen blocks.

 

Snapshots will do it too. Just save one snapshot with all 3 ON, and another with all 3  OFF.

The standard behavior for footswitches is exactly how you describe. Not only can you use a footswitch to turn 3 (or 2, or 1, or more than 3) effects on or off simultaneously, you can also use a single footswitch to turn some effects on and some off simultaneously - like switch is dim, mod is on, reverb and delay are off...  switch is lit, mod is off, reverb and delay are on. You can also use the same switch to control effect parameters, send MIDI, a whole bunch of other things, while still controlling the bypass state of your blocks. This is all without using snapshots.

Actually also, instead of having a clean boost by turning an effect on, can you tell a switch to just turn the gain up on the amp sim, and then down again when you toggle it off

 

And this can all be done using 2 external switches right, as well as the ones on the unit?

You can have a single switch change the gain, master volume, channel volume, tone controls, sag, bias, etc., and parameters from other blocks, all simultaneously if you want.

The scenario you describe in your original post is exactly how the unit is intended to be used, either with the built in switches or with external switches connected to FS 4/5.

 Yes, but as that affects gain staging downstream, a better way is to assign the Output Block level to the toggle switch, and use the MIN/MAX settings.

It seems to me that the OP wants more gain in his solo tone, not necessarily more volume.

Yeah prob a bit more gain and volume, maybe change the eq - enough to cut through playing against a looper playing rhythm, a bassist and a drum machine. But generally a clean gain that gives some extra sustain and punch but not a rowdy noisy one.

He said "CLEAN BOOST" and GAIN in the same question. Confusing, but both are accomplished the same way, by assigning the switch to the parameter and using the MIN/MAX settings.

Yes again, same principle.
