Guitar Input clipping

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced the input indicator on the Helix Floor turning red(clipping)????

If so is there a fix for that?

You can turn the input pad on under Global Settings>Ins/Outs.

What type of guitar/pickups are you using when you’re experiencing the clipping?

I use EMGs with active EQ boosts and haven't clipped the input yet. You might want to check the level of whatever you are feeding into the input.

Hi, on a similar topic but slightly different, I cannot have a real clean sound from any guitar on my Helix LT. Here's what's happening:

Guitar plugged into the guitar input (tried with and without Guitar PAD), a plain and empty chain. When I pluck the lower strings I get a fuzzy sound and that's happening with a really low output volume as well. The clipping indicators remain green. When connected to my computer through USB, it still present and the lever is really low for recording, so no clipping on that side either. Tried 4 different guitars, none are using active pickups. I've tried changing the Input Impedance, even though it does lower that distorsion sound, it does not eliminate it.

If I add a clean amp+cab (for example the JC120), I cannot get a really clean sound even with the Drive below 1. I've tried many things with no luck. I am out of ideas here... I thought for a while that it might be my headphones, but that sound still is hearable on the computer once recorded through USB.

PS: I also tried plugging the guitar in the Return 1. While it did lower the problem, again, it did not eliminate it.

I know the Helix is great and should sound good, but right now, it sounds really bad because of it.

Anyone ever experience such a problem ? Starting to wonder if I got a faulty unit (????)

Regards to all and thanks in advance for any advice.

Well that's a pretty thorough explanation of the problem...other than the fact you haven't said a single word about what your output device is and how you have it set up.  If the Helix is showing green, the Helix probably isn't clipping or distorting the signal because the signal is within the tolerances of the system, so it's likely happening at your output device.

Do you have another guitar with different pickups that you can try this with?
