adinelb
Hello, folks! I own the Helix Floor for a year and a half now and I'm really going to stick with it after the last update, the Princeton amp is totally a game changer. Nevertheless, I'm really looking for other type of delays and reverb pedals, I really feel that I need better sounding dedicated gear for this and I'm looking to buy the Strymon Volante and the BlueSky. So, how would you connect these two via midi? What is your experience with midi distribution boxes, what do you use out there? Have you encountered any problems, also? I'm looking for your experience, pros and cons. Thanks, guys!
rd2rk
AFAIK, all of the Strymon effects have MIDI THRU. No additional distribution box is needed. Just set each Strymon effect to a different MIDI Channel and use CommandCenter to assign the relevant commands to InstantCommands on the appropriate channels. Don't forget to disable MIDI PC SEND in Global Settings/MIDI to prevent Helix sending the default PC# when a preset loads. EDIT: same goes for other MIDI functions/Footswitches/Exp pedals - just assign them to the appropriate channels.

PierM
BlueSky is an "old" pedal, and has no MIDI support. As for the MIDI support with other Strymon products, you find all you need to know here (on the Helix you just send CCs and PCs as for any other MIDI device); https://www.strymon.net/faq/how-can-i-control-volante-with-midi/ https://www.strymon.net/using-midi-to-control-your-pedals/ https://www.strymon.net/using-midi-control-pedals-2/ Love me Strymon stuff!
DBCrocky
I agree that you probably won't need a MIDI distrubution box for three or four devices, you can just chain them as long as each is on a different channel. But since you ask, I have used and recommend the Quadra Thru box from MIDI Solutions. I own a number of MIDI utility boxes from them and have found them very solid and reliable. http://www.midisolutions.com/prodqth.htm
