Compatible Power Supplies for HX Stomp

Recommended Posts

I wanted to make a list of power supplies that can work with the Stomp, most of these come from online and YouTube by seeing other guitarists

(And bassists!) and how they power them. Even though they seem to work with Stomp, Line 6 has Clearly said in their HX Stomp FAQ that they advise to use the provided power supply. To make these power supplies work, you'll need some extra accessories.

You'll need a current doubler, (NOT A VOLTAGE DOUBLER!)

and a centre negative 2.5mm adapter (Center for you yanks!). The HX Stomp has a power draw of about 800-900 mA, most power supplies will have 9v 500 mA or higher, these are the outputs you are looking for on a power supply. Power Supplies like the Cioks dc7 will have 9v 660 mA, this will not hurt the stomp. So here are the Power Supplies that should work.

There are 2.1 to 2.5mm cables, would one of those work from one output from the CS6 or CS12???

The 2.1 side would be connected to the CURRENT doubler the goes into two 9v 500 mA, the HX Stomp takes the Center Negative side.

I have one, the cable works fine, but using it with the two 450ma outputs of my MXR ISO-Brick isn’t enough to power my HX Stomp. Powers up fine, but the goes haywire when I change presets.

My Truetone CS7 just crapped out on me. So I decided to try my $40 Amazon Donner DP-2 on my HX stomp. To my surprise, using the adapter cables from my Truetone I was able to power it on using the 500ma 9v jack on the supply. If I used the lower milliamps outputs it would power on but not get past the firmware screen. But the 500 worked fine.

It currently powering my HX Stomp, an EQD Hoof, JHS Morning Glory, Strymon El Capistan, Walrus Audio Slö Way Huge Saucy Box and a Caroline Somersault.

So yeah.... $40 or so off Amazon and a few adapter cables and youre all set

Does anyone know if the fender engine room level 8 would be compatible to power the hx stomp and the hx effects together (im assuming it didnt exist at the time this post was made). I feel like it could with a couple of current doubler cables but could do with finding out before I go and drop the cash.

I am using a power supply by Vitoos ( called ISO 8).  It has 9,12 , and 18 volt (switchable) and 1000mA(x2) and has separate isolated sections for the 9v and heavy draw outlets.  Using it for about a year now with no problems.   it's under my board or i'd put up a pic.  Cheap as chips, too!

I just got the Truetone CS7 and per another post I’m using one power cable to the red adapter to the green adapter. I had no problem with it so far. I’m keeping the Line 6 cord with my gear as backup.
