Hi Forum,

did anybody used a tube pre in front of Helix.

I have a Mesa Boogie Studio Pre and would like to use it as the first stage of a setup.

Make a preset with just some delay, maybe a compressor and use an IR cabinet.

should I use Aux in, or a loop input.

does anybody know the maximum input levels to these inputs?
thanks,

Peter

Okay, but that looks like the other way around right, isn't the DSL40C a combo?

So the helix sits in an effects loop.

That should indeed work fine, and something I tried before with My Mark V Head.

Now I want to use the MB Studio Pre as the first stage, so the guitar only sees the tube amp, and will be responsible for a large part of the clean and overdriven sounds.

The output of the Helix will go to my monitors, and I could record it in cubase.

But indeed use the Aux in (kind of like an active pick-up, but than the output of the tube amp)

Thanks
