This is my goal. I want to set up the bottom row of buttons to be specific tones. Example: metal/clean/classic rock/acoustic Sim. Then I would like my top row of buttons to be stomps that I can add to any given tone from the bottom row. Example: phaser/pitch shifter/boost/chorus. Is there any possibility that the helix can be set up this way? Essentially, this is the type of setup that I use on my XT LIVE.

Global Settings>Footswitches>Preset Mode

Choose from “8 Presets,” “Preset/Stomp” (one bank of presets on the top row, switches from stomp mode on the bottom row), “Stomp/Preset” (switches from stomp mode on the top row, one bank of presets on the bottom row), “Preset/Snap” (one bank of presets on the top row, Snapshots 1-4 on the bottom row), “Snap/Preset” (Snapshots 1-4 on the top row, one bank of presets on the bottom row), “Snap/Stomp” (Snapshots 1-4 on the top row, switches from stomp mode on the bottom row), “Stomp/Snap” (switches from stomp mode on the top row, Snapshots 1-4 on the bottom row), and “8 Snapshots” (Snapshots 1-8)."

I guess my first step is going to be to learn how to do snapshots better. Just struggling a bit. And trying do it without the pc.

Yep. The manual covers snapshots nicely. So do youtube videos. But .... things are sure a lot easier using the pc editor to set things up how you like it.

Find yourself a small inexpensive lappy at a PC recycle store if you have one. We have one called Free Geek here in Portland.
