jacktravelling
Hi all, When I got my HX Stomp it came with a number of attachments for the power supply to work in different countries. But I left the Australian adaptor behind in some socket somewhere. I wondered - anyone got an Australian one hanging around that they'll never need? I mean, Australia's not even letting anyone in at the moment so you're not likely to need it anytime soon! Happy to pay a reasonable price for it. Yamaha have said they don't sell them separately and it seems wasteful to buy a whole extra one, or a cumbersome US to Australia adaptor. Thanks in advance. amenity421
If someone here can verify if the adapters I received with my Variax would work with the stomps power supply, I'd love to drop it in the post for you!
Schmalle
Maybe you have a 1A 9V Boss power supply? You need a power supply with 9V, at least 1A and a reversed polarity 5.5mm diameter plug. 1
CrOOkedScheMeR
Hey amenity421 does the adapter peice you have look like the one near the arrow here? Like, it clips on to the power supply?? I'm desperately looking for one also and can't find anything at all anywhere. Crazy!!!
jacktravelling
That's exactly it CrOOkedScheMeR! Well it's good to know my pain is shared, even though we now just have 2 people who need one!
jacktravelling
Also, amenity421, thanks but it seems they are not the same judging by the photos
stevenangier
You might be better off getting a new power adapter from Jaycar. This one is 9v DC 1.66amp for $25 <https://www.jaycar.com.au/9v-dc-1-66a-slim-power-supply-7dc-plugs/p/MP3484>. Just be sure to set the polarity correctly when you attach the tip.
CrOOkedScheMeR
Thanks for that stevenangier - I might look in to that as another option. Call me weird but if I can have the proper rig I'd rather that, however something like you posted might be worth it! Really appreciate the link jacktravelling yeah I'm stuck in this boat too and feel your pain. If I can find them I'll let you know and send you one no worries :) :)
codamedia
Find a store that specialized in travel accessories. Those are simple adapters, I have no problem finding them whenever I need them while traveling. Here in Canada I can walk into my local Walmart and buy an entire set of popular countries for about $20. I've often found myself needing one in a foreign country and can always find them in the tourist hot spots. (yes, I am aware tourism is non-existent at this time) I'm talking about the simple "Country A to Country B" adapters.... not an actual converter. Although most converters will also come with a complete set of adapters.
CrOOkedScheMeR
hey codamedia thanks for that I know all too well about travel adapters. While those work, the DC-3 is made in such a way that they just flop around in those travel adapters.....I currently have one stuck on with electrical tape, which works but makes an already poor design worse. the proper one 'clips' on to the dc-3 and has a lower profile which is beneficial and also ensures a better connection. Yup I will probably buy a different adapter altogether but this was just a last ditch effort to find one....
jacktravelling
Yes - exactly! I did the same, bought an adaptor but it was loose so sometimes would turn off in the middle of a set, leaving me waiting for it to power up again... And it makes the whole assembly big and clunky. I have just bought exactly what stevenangier suggested. Just plugged it in and it seems to be doing the trick, and is quite sturdy and slimline too - perhaps even better than the original, minus the reassuring LED. Sure I was hoping for an even cheaper solution but $24 aint bad. Thanks for that stevenangier!
