trying to use a Mission SP1-L6 pedal with HX Stomp XL

...and failing miserably. I bought this expression pedal on CL and it is in like new condition and came with a y-cable.  I am able to get it to work but only Expression pedal 2.  When I switch it to EP 1 I get nothing, and the switch does not engage.  I think I have watched every youtube out there and nothing remedies the problem.  Wrong cable?  The two ends of the Y are labeled tip and ring, and if I reverse them it makes no difference.  Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Well it may look like new condition, but if it fails to do what it is supposed to do, then you probably have a dud!

It may be just the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you have access to a circuit tester then simply give it a full health check.

Looks aren’t everything, especially when it comes to stuff like this. Makes you wonder why the CL seller wanted to off load it?

Plus, when something appears to be to good to be true, then it usually is.

Caveat emptor.

EDIT:

IIRC, I saw a post on here recently where someone wanted to mod a wah pedal to use as an expression pedal. I think that there was a mention of the possibility of buying the switch circuitry direct from Mission to load into an old wah. If that’s a fact then you could simply transplant the new guts into the “like new” carcass. - Just a thought!

I’m using a TRS to TRS cable with mine. Try this:

Connect a TRS cable from the Stomp EXP/FS jack to the SP1 Out 1 jack.

Press the PAGE left/right buttons at once to go to the MENU.

PAGE right once and select Global Settings.

Upper Knob scroll to Preferences.

PAGE right once.

EXP/FS Tip = EXP 1

EXP/FS Ring = FS5

Tip Polarity = Normal.

Press VIEW to exit the MENU.

Go to the Preset Edit View.

Make a Wah or Volume Pedal block (you can only have one per preset).

Press the PAGE left/right buttons to the MENU.

Select Controller Assign.

Param = Psition

Controller = EXP 1

Press the PAGE left/right buttons to the MENU.

Select Bypass Assign.

Switch = FS5

Type = Latching

Press VIEW to exit the MENU.

Save the Preset with the block off.

Did you get it working? What was the solution?

Thank you! I think that's what I was trying to figure out!

I imagine for OP the same process of the preset editing and assignments also applies if using a splitter cable and both outputs on the Mission.

But if you can do that with a regular TRS cable, even better!

I'm delving into running my HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL boards in 4CM with their amps; and realizing I need expression pedal control for both of them to really get the most out of the wah, volume, and whammy effects; to name a a few.
