Anyone upgrade to the new Mac OS Monterey yet?

I know wisdom dictates to wait but I’m just curious if anyone did it yet and how HX Edit and/or Native are working?

Yes, Line6 Edit doesn't work - I redid my entire machine fro basically factory settings.... My machine decided it wanted to get MacOs Monterey.

HX Edit seems to work fine for me on a new M1 Pro Macbook Pro. Helix Native does not through anything I have tried so far.

same here..just upgraded to a new M1 Pro and now Helix Native is broken. I'm using logic. I get a failure to load.  ok...after review this thread (thanks datacommando) I read the Apple M1 KB and Line6 is saying to turn on the "run in Rosetta" flag for your DAW which I assume will run your entire DAW in emulation mode. I can see this as a sort term fix but sort of defeats the whole purpose and wonder if there are any latency issues..etc.  Anyone have any experience?

I will not enable automatic updating on any device.  I suppose it's fine if your equipment is less than six minutes old but if you're like me and you can't afford to buy a new phone or a new computer every 20 seconds the only safe option is to completely disable automatic updating and treat every new update with suspicion and extreme caution.  I learned the hard way too many times that updating without seriously investigating first can cost you your way of doing things, thereby costing you time and can also cost you money as well.  I only update if I am forced to and there are absolutely no other options.

If you care to trawl through the numerous posts on here, or the dedicated HX Native pages, you will find that many, many Helix Native users are managing to work with Rosetta quite successfully.

The point is that, generally, lots of people come into these forums to gripe about Line 6 not having their stuff fully compliant with the new Apple products. Yet this was an industry wide phenomenon - Apple made the change.

 

When I say “industry wide” that is not simply music and audio apps.

Amen... don't even know what Mac OS I'm running, and couldn't care less. Maybe one day Apple will stop destroying all 3rd party software with every update... till then don't update unless you really enjoy frustration and profanity, lol.

My version of Microsoft Office (I forget the number) had to be uninstalled.  It stopped working after updating MacOS.  That wasn't the first time I lost the use of a valuable app that I depended on because Apple decided to abandon backwards app compatibility.  Then I went to the Microsoft website to (reluctantly) pay for a new version but the only one that will consistently run on my system is a subscription service.  I refuse to rent software.  I only buy it.  Renting software is a scam and I won't do it.  There is a stand alone version but after reading about it I learned it only works on the 3 most recent versions of MacOS and every time Apple makes some small "security update", whatever that means because Macs are already secure, it counts as a new version so I would have to buy a new copy of Office over and over again.  I said screw you Microsoft and screw you Apple.  I learned how to use Pages and I won't be updating MacOS either.  There is nothing wrong with my OS and there is nothing wrong with my apps either.  Everything works fine .... until I update and then it costs me money and frustration.  I will only update if I am absolutely FORCED to.  Same goes for my phone.  I can't tell you how many apps I lost because of iOS updates.  Never again.

I've been running MacOS Monterey for a few weeks now and haven't has any issues with HX Edit, Powercab Edit or Helix Native. I am running it on an M1 Mac Mini with 8g of RAM. Bear in mind, depending on the plugins you run and the complexities of the type of work your doing, your mileage may vary, but overall my experience has been solid.

What DAW are you using? are you running it in Rosetta?

I haven't updated my M1 Mac Mini from Big Sur to Monterey yet. I came here to see if it was safe.

 

But I will comment that under Big Sur, with Logic Pro 10.7.1, Native wouldn't load until I enabled Rosetta. However, after it loaded successfully, I disabled Rosetta, and Native continues to work fine.

 

I probably won't update to Monterey until a few more people chime in that it is working for them. But there seems to be several who aren't having issues.

HX Edit and Helix Native are running perfectly fine, no problems here

Of course it does....That's intel silicon...The problem here is the new Apple M1 CPU...Intel is no problem.

As someone stuck on Catalina I'm with you on the overall sentiment, but be aware that Macs are no longer the secure machines they used to be. While still better than Windows, Macs can be and are infected by viruses and malware. Some of these have been serious. With MacOS becoming more popular, according to this article from Forbes Mac threats are increasing at a faster rate than Windows. I'm sure you don't click on things like weird attachments, but unfortunately the security situation for both Windows and MacOS continues to be a real problem, and it's not getting better.

 

I decided a while ago I had to update my computers because they touch on corporate servers and such from time to time, but I do turn off any automatic updates, and wait until there's an "all clear" from the early adopters, before doing manual update installs. Usually by waiting, the software companies have worked out incompatibility issues by then. Hopefully. Maybe.

If you cannot or don't want to upgrade the OS, make sure to get a secure and trustworthy VPN. Then keep it on all the time.

Incidentally, exactly 4 years ago on a Black Friday I bought a "lifetime license" of Windscribe VPN, and that was one of the best online security investments I made. The other one being Little Snitch which I have in use since many years.

I am running Logic Pro X. I am not running it in Rosetta.

Absolutely right.  My spidey senses are always on high alert.  Even more so whenever I visit a site I've never been to before, whenever I get an unexpected email, unexpected friend request on social media, etc.  I don't surf porn.  I don't click on things all Willie Nilly like most people do.  I will not read past the first page of anything that works like a slideshow where I have to keep clicking (getting redirected) to see the next pane.  I look at the sender info first before I read any email.  I double check the URL address before inputting info to make sure it's not just a look-alike.  I run Safari in privacy mode, which can be painfully inconvenient at times but you get used to it and it helps slow down the accumulation of trackers.  I clear my cache frequently.  I do full shut downs every day and hard boots.  I turn WiFi off  when I'm not online.  Lots of stuff.  

I got internet in 1995.  26 years of getting screwed time and again has made me suspicious of everything.

Device is not found with latest driver.

Was using ux1 on PC with windows before - so device is not broken. (though sound was freezing sometimes and device reboot didn't help. Only PC reboot helped in such cases)

Anyway going to throw ux1 to the trash, and buy some other vendor's device instead of this piece of sI-Iit.

MacBook Pro M1. No issues with HX Edit, updated to 3.15. But sample rate is not adjustable even after driver installation. Its fixed to 48khz

pod ux1 and podfarm 2 is not compatible and with monterey, found this out the hard way.

I could work with a short time with Monterey M1 and the Helix driver (for 44.1k).

Then the driver had another name, "Helix Rack" instead "Helix Audio"

 

After the current Monterey-Update it's not more working. The L6 driver ist not more loading.

 

Even if I did the trick with disabling SIP for installation and enable after installation in Recovery mode (csrutil enable/disable on command line).

The .kext ist not loading and I am sticked with "Helix Audio" driver with 48k.

 

Helix native is the only Plugin that is not activated at LogicPro start.

 

So Line6 should bring the macOS driver (1.5) and the Helix native plugin to a current and compatible state.
