grenz_de
I need your help please. I have got a HD500 and I want to send Midi Program Changes to the Strymon Timeline, which I have in the FX Loop. So I created a preset on the HD500 with the FX Loop on and also the delay preset on the Timeline. In the control section of the HD500 Edit I set the following values: Footswitch FS5 (here is the right preset on the HD500) Midi Channel 1 (same on Timeline), Message Prog Change, Program 23. The Timeline has 200 Presets, the selected preset is on prog 23, with the HD500 I can control 128 presets via Midi. I have connected the Midi Out of the HD with the Midi In of the Strymon. When I change the presets on the HD, it changes also the presets on the Strymon, but not the correct ones. It also changes presets, even I have not configured the Midi controls in the HD preset. And not matter what program or bank I set in the Midi controls of the HD (e.g. 24,25,26...) it always changes to the same (wrong) preset. What is wrong here? hurghanico
Whenever and as soon as you change presets on the POD it automatically (fixed non-changeable behavior) sends out the corresponding MIDI program change on its same set MIDI channel number (and this behavior overrides any program changes that may have been programmed into the POD preset). Therefore, since the above behavior of the POD is unfortunately fixed, the solution is to store the presets on the connected external device in such a way that you get the desired correspondence between the presets of one and the other. Eg, if when selecting preset A (FS5) on the POD you want to automatically select a certain preset on the external device, the latter must be stored, copied or moved into the first memory slot available of the external device. PS. Program changes programmed within a preset are useful when remaining in the same already selected preset on the POD, you want to change presets on a connected external device by using the POD footswitches. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
grenz_de
Thank you for your reply. Does this mean, that there is no Midi configuration in the HD500 preset with HD500 Edit neccessary, I just look, which preset on the Timeline is active, when I select my preset on the HD500 and I have to use the Timeline preset for the corresponding preset for this song ? And when I put this preset on a different position of the HD500 setlist, I have to do this exercise again and adjust the preset on the Timeline again ? Thank you. hurghanico
I'll try to explain myself better.. when you select preset A of bank 1, POD automatically sends a program change corresponding to 000 to the device connected via MIDI, so you have to make sure that in the connected device the preset you need is stored in the memory slot 000. if from the POD you select the preset B of bank 1, the POD sends a program change corresponding to 001 to the connected device, therefore make sure that in the connected device the correct preset is in the memory slot 001. if from POD you select preset A of bank 2, POD sends a program change corresponding to 004 to the connected device, if from POD you select preset B of bank 2, POD sends a program change corresponding to 005 to the connected device, and so on .. basically all you have to do is sort the presets of your connected device in order to get the right matches with the POD presets, possibly even copying the same preset (eg same delay) in several memory slots if and where necessary ..and yes, you don't need to program MIDI program changes into the presets, unless you want to stay fixed in the same POD preset but change the presets of the connected device at some points. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
grenz_de
Thank you for your help ! This is working, but only within one setlist. When I change the setlist on the HD500, it sends the same midi program change message to the Strymon pedal for the corresponding presets from the other setlists, so this works only within one setlist. This is all quite complicated, when you rearrange your presets on the HD500 for a gig. Hope this will be fixed from Line6 with a firmware update. hurghanico
1 hour ago, grenz_de said: Hope this will be fixed from Line6 with a firmware update surely there won't be any other firmware in the future with improvements or fixes for the HD500/X.. the latest was released on 4/9/15.. development of the HD500/X ended years ago .. the only thing that maybe will be updated again at least while the unit is still in production is the asio-audio driver needed for communication between the device and the audio programs running on the latest computer's operating systems, the latest driver for windows has been released on 6/11/19 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
sweetpete
Here's something I do to get around this issue. Since I don't use the TAP button on my FBV Shortboard MkII, I've programmed it (per preset) to send a MIDI program change to the outboard FX unit I use to select the preset on that unit. Yeah, it's 2 toe taps - one to pick the preset on my POD HD Pro X and another to pick the preset on the outboard FX unit - but it works. Regarding updates to this old gear, the POD HD Pro X is sold as new at Sweetwater, but there hasn't been a firmware update for it in years. But no matter - I'm quite enjoying my new Fractal FM9 ;)
