acoca2
Hi everyone, I recently got a Spider V 60 and have been experimenting with home/digital recording for the first time. I'm pretty impressed with the results when using my Spider V directly to PC (ASIO drive) with Cubase. A question for the folks out there who are more experienced with the Spider V and recording in general...do you see any advantages to using a dedicated device like a Focusrite vs the built-in interface on the Spider V? I'm recording strictly guitar at this point (with drums via EZ Drummer 2) and have no need for additional inputs or XLR. Appreciate any thoughts or opinions. Thanks, Anthony
silverhead
Since you’re new at this and don’t need more inputs I would say stick with what you’ve got until you gain more experience. You’re ’pretty impressed’ with the sound you’re getting right now, and that’s good. Down the road you might find that upgrading your audio interface would be useful, but you might also find that spending the money on something else would be better. fflbrgst
If you are happy with the tone/sound you get using the USB direct from the amp, then there is no immediate reason to change anything. I prefer to mic my Spider amp (into an interface), as I have found that I like the sound better than way.
