New Physical Hardware Coming Out Soon ???

Hi,

I love the Helix and it's been around awhile and with each release, it keeps getting better.   There is however a 'new kid on the block' that claims to have a QUAD Core Sharc(R) processors.

QUESTION:  Does L6 have plans to come out with a new physical hardware product..... like the Helix II (whatever name) :::  with even more DSP?

Curious in CBus

QUESTION:

Ye gods - do people never read the posts in this forum, before asking ridiculous questions that have been done to death, over and over again.

This horse is well and truly deceased, and this is becoming tedious.

Try asking your question over on TGP and await the collective groan!

Yes, of course. Always. Otherwise their plan is to go out of business. And you don’t need any inside knowledge to know that.

When will it be announced? And when will it be available? And should you buy anything in the meantime?  To buy or not to buy? That is the question. …. Aye, there’s the rub.

Define ‘soon’.

Oh thank God! It's been at least 17 minutes since this burning question was last addressed...if I don't get a heaping dose of wild speculation to base all my decisions on every 45 minutes or so, I get the shakes.

What everyone else said. For future reference, nobody from L6 monitors this forum. They occasionally visit, but they don't stay long.

They DO hang out on the Digital and Modeling Forum on The Gear Page. If you ask this question over there where it's asked every 15 minutes, you'll be laughed at.

On TGP you'll also find a number of lengthy threads with thousands of posts by owners and non-owners alike complaining about the shortcomings of that "quad-core" wonder device you mentioned, and several posts by users saying "Whatever, it's good enough for me!" Caveat emptor.

My BEST advice: Buy what you can afford NOW. The future is a dream.

Im wondering if you "quadcore" guys are actually playing guitars or doing 3D renderings for Pixar.

FWIW Headrush has quad core architecture too. Cores are just one aspect of computer performance; how the cores are actually used is another. Frankly, Helix's 3D video 7.2 surround rendering is somewhat disappointing.  :)

Unfortunately there are no new products on the horizon. L6 has decided, after a rigorous employee debate, to rest on their amazing accomplishments and all vacation in a top secret location. Their advice is to just gig with what you have, you are on your own. Sorry to be the bearer of such terrible news.

Yup...I have it on good authority (from some very reliable gossip) that the company-wide memo they sent out explaining the decision was titled "Ahh, f*ck it"...;)

EXCUSE ME.......

    but you're ALL wrong!!!

Elon Musk is partnering with Line 6 to create the Next Generation virtual, fully electric, guitar spaceship platform.  That's RIGHT. You can get a reverb that's LITERALLY "out of this world", and not only that..... you'll be able to recharge this NextGen Guitar Rig at any Tesla dealer. Once you try the new interplanetary delay, with the 4.7 (light years) of delay time.....you'll never go back to earthly delays again.  Of course there will be fx blocks you've never heard of, or not heard before, like the new Space Silence. It's perfect empty space with no knobs or settings to worry about.

Wherever he is, John Cage is wishing he'd thought of this first...;)
