Hi,

From the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual- Rev F - English - Page 9 - Back Panel

USB Helix also functions as a high quality, multi-in/out, 24-bit/96kHz audio inter- face for Mac and Windows® computers, with DI, Re-amping, and MIDI functionality built right in. Helix can also record to an iPad or iPhone mobile device (with optional Apple Camera Connection Kit). Use of a USB 2.0 (or higher) port is required—Do not use an external USB hub

All the manuals for the range of Helix product are full of useful information.

Oh, yeah, the HD500 - I still have a POD HD500 which I previously used to patch into my Helix floor just to use the Dimensions effect. Those fine people at Line 6 then added all that stuff as Legacy FX in the Helix. Therefore, as you say you are looking to upgrade, I would suggest that you “road test” a Helix - it’s light years away from your HD - no comparison!

Hope this helps/makes sense.
