Questions keep coming up about what's in the Amplifi app.  I thought I'd pull up a tone and see what I find.  (Anybody can do this. Just load the free Amplifi app on your iPhone/iPad, pull up a tone, go to "Editor" and start snooping around)  AE

the toneport has zero amp models.

toneports get amp models from either gearbox (OLD) or pod farm (CURRENT)

the list may not have been updated anytime recently... but the info applies model to model for the amplifi as well... 100% positive.

it basically just tells you what was modeled etc... if they tweaked it or whatever for amplifi... its still based on the same information.

^^^^^^^^There are 77 amp models in the Amplifi. The toneport list is lacking. Line6 says Pod Farm, not toneport.

i did find a more current and complete listing here:

Thanks!! This greatly adds information to the list of Amplifi amps, pedals, and settngs.  The list is useful since it tells us exactly what's in the Amplifi, and cross-referencing to the pdf file lets us learn about the specific amp, pedal, etc.  It's time to start cookin' up some tones!  AE

pod farm got their models from the x-series.

the x3 has all the pod farm and all the model pack models in it.

the pod x3 has the same models as pod farm.

even if they tell you that magical blue leprechauns came from an obscure village just south of gargamels castle and made special fairy dust models for the amplifi units...

the models are still based on the ones DOCUMENTED here....

the documentation does not affect the sound.

in other words... if you want to know what the models in your amp are based on... it's in the PDF.

I still don't see the Pod Farm connection...

(cross post)

The AMPLIFi engine is based on the POD Farm algorithms.

If you look at the models for POD Farm Platinum, basically a fully loaded PODxt, PODxt Live or POD X3 (X3 comes fully loaded), that is what the AMPLIFi's models are based on.

Currently the AMPLIFi does not seem to have all the POD Farm Platinum models.

According to Digitech, they were able to use complete algorithms(full lexicon reverb as one example) on the iStomp because  it only held one model at a time(more room than on mfx). I would assume(I know) that Pod Farm plugin algos might be more robust than what are in the Pods?

I don't think that would be accurate.

the model quality does not scale in that sense.

much like an mp3, if the file is encoded at 128k that's what it will use to play regardless of the player.

the models where built at a certain quality and that's that.....

digitech was probably able to model their istomps at a higher quality level because of their intended use.

if it was just a matter of running them on better hardware...

all these models would be in the pod HD's or pod X4 as it would more aptly be called.

That is why I keep using the term plugin. Could it be the case they are different than what goes into specific hardware? Avid made a box, the Eleven Rack to use their plugin models so.........I dunno

is it true to say that the amp models are from the POD X3 family but the effects are from the M Series family?

Nope... There's some overlap, but most of the effects are different.

The effects are the same as POD Farm and the X3 series, for all intents and purposes. Although, there are some difference in the way the effects respond. For instance, the one clip I made and put up her, I made a delay go into a smooth self-oscillation. That was something you could never do with the XT or X3. I'm not so sure if POD Farm would do that or not.

I think my HD500 PCB is actually labeled Pod X4

not surprising, i think its all called something more familiar in development... and then they hand it over to their marketing guys to reinvent the reinvention of all inventions. :D

i think my DT50 box even said vetta on it.

:)
