4CM effects only to amp, amp and cab sim plus effects to PA

I have my first gig coming up since I've had the Helix and I would like to start setting up some patches. I had an HF Effects previously and am confident about setting up 4CM with my amp, but I would like to set up a seperate DI output to the PA that also has an amp and cab sim in that stream. I think I know how to do it but any tips or outright rules and advice would be appreciated. I don't have a PA to test this on at the moment but we will have one for rehearsals in a few weeks so I would like to have this roughly sorted before then. I have searched the forums but seems difficult to find, for me anyway.

Thank you!

Considering that it's Floyd, you probably have a relatively complex, DSP heavy signal chain. Your best bet is to get a reactive load box with IR loading capability.

Something like the Two Notes Captor X.

While there are ways to do what you're asking with Helix alone, you'd essentially be splitting the signal chain at the FX Loop Block and duplicating the rest of the signal chain with an HX amp. BIG TIME DSP intensive.

You COULD take a SEND at the end of the signal chain and use an IR box with a power amp simulator built in, but wouldn't it be better to have the actual sound of your own amp's power amp section and simply add an IR for FOH?

I think it would be pretty easy to set up path 1 to run into your amp using your 4CM cables and then create another string on path 2 and set the output to XLR.

You would want to change path 2 input from X to Guitar.  Then both paths would see the same dry guitar signal at input and you could put whatever blocks you like on each path without either path affecting what's going on in the other.

This is what I figured out on my own although it doesn't leave much DSP for effects. It'll work for what I need on this set which is pretty straightforward country so I'm just running compression, a boost, delay and reverb. So I'm still wondering if there's a better way to split off just the effects if I do a rock show with more effects required. Thank you for your reply, had I not messed around with it at work you would've got me there much faster!

I saw this video about 2 days ago because I was searching for the same thing:

Check if it helps!

Certainly a different approach to using the effects loop of your amp, but doesn't sent a second signal to FOH. I like how he has the split before it hits his amp. If I do that I still need an FX block in the signal to my amp, and also have to double up any effects on the path to FOH. This video is good and I got some ideas from it though, thank you.

I'm not sure where you got Floyd from, it's a straight up country set lol. The load/IR box is something I never thought of. I'd rather not have to buy more gear but that's a good idea. I did what one of the other responders suggested; one path with 4CM into my amp, another seperate path with all the effects and an amp/cab sim. You're right though, DSP is pretty much maxed and all I have for effects are compression, boost, delay, and reverb. If there's a better way I'd love to find it.

The video you posted shows a very different approach to 4CM than I have ever tried but I do understand why he did it that way.  However, there is an additional change he could have made to his preset to make it work better, IMO.  He has the preamp block on path 1b and his time based blocks after the preamp on path 2.  That means his time based blocks are actually after the preamp in the signal flow chain which makes no sense to me.  The whole idea behind 4CM is to bypass the preamp part of the amp and run time based blocks through the amp's loop.  I would have left the EQ block on path 1b but moved the preamp block to path 2.  Then just before (left of) the preamp block I would have placed a split to path 2b and placed the time based blocks on 2b.  Then I would rejoin the split after the preamp block so the preamp is between the two split blocks.  That would make the time based blocks go around and bypass the preamp block and then path 2 would behave closer to like if it had its own 4CM.
