jamiepettersen
Hi all, So I've encountered an issue with my Helix floor where upon powering it on, the signal is super weak on input and the sound is kind of mangled. I have to play really hard to get any sort of acceptable signal. It kind of sounds like a gated, spitty fuzz? After roughly 20 minutes of it turning on, the issue disappears and all is well. I've reset the unit and I've even done a fresh firmware install. I've swapped cables, tried different guitars - all the usual stuff. Has anyone encountered this issue? Can anyone offer any suggestions? I have opened a support ticket and they just told me to send it to my nearest authorized repairer, about 3000km away. I've had the unit since 2017 and I would dearly like for it to be fixable!

jamiepettersen
Apologies, I forgot to mention that I opened a ticket and they suggested I send it to the nearest authorised repairer, about 3000km away. I've changed my initial post to include that.
rd2rk
That sucks. If it's any consolation, depending on where in the outback you are, the nearest competent tube amp tech is probably next door to the L6 Repair Station... :-(

Hi, Nope never encountered this, but it sure sounds like it is beyond the scope of the average contributor to this forum. Suggest you have it checked out with somebody qualified to poke around inside your Helix. I realise you won’t like this, but it looks like this requires a 6000km round trip for repair or you get to slowly watch it die. How far is it to the nearest place you can buy a replacement? Not really a great deal of options here.
codamedia
Try inserting a RETURN block at the front of the chain, and make sure it is set to "instrument" level. Plug the guitar into that return and see if the problem remains. This will tell you if the problem is just a dying input, or if the problem is deeper down the line. If it's just the input at least you can work around that until you get a chance to have it fixed. 1

Didn't think to try that :)
