cmichael1
I'm using Helix with v3.5. I set Snapshop mode to manual return: "Global Settings > Footswitches" > Knob 4 (Snapshot Mode Switches) to "Manual Return". As expected, Snapshot mode stays activated when I enter it by pressing both Bank buttons. But it seems there are two problems now. First, if I change Manual Return back to Auto, it fails to behave as before. The bigger problem is I can't find a way to cancel Snapshot Footswitch Mode. At first, FS6 displayed a Cancel option. Now it always says, "Preset/Stomp". So the scribble strips are permanently set to Shapshot mode (with four presets on one row and four snapshots on the other). I suppose I could do a factory reset but that seems extreme. Is there another way to cancel the mode to restore FS2-5 and FS8-11 to Presets (no snapshots displayed)? rd2rk
That's not Snapshot Mode, that's Preset Mode. If you go to Global Settings>Footswitches you'll see that Preset Mode Switches are set to either Preset/Snap (top row Presets) or Snap/Preset (top row Snapshots). The Scribble Strip for FS6 will show PRESET Highlighted. When set to Auto Return, if you press both Bank switches all of the switches will change to Snapshots (you're in Snapshot Mode). The Scribble Strips will flash until you make a selection and FS6 will say CANCEL. Once a selection is made you'll be returned to Preset Mode and FS 6 will again say PRESET/Stomp. Set to Manual Return, everything is the same except after pressing both Bank switches the Scribble strips don't flash and you can switch between Snapshots until you're happy, then press CANCEL to return to Preset Mode. If your Helix behaves differently you may need to perform a factory reset.
lawrence_Arps
go to globals/footswitches and select 8 presets.
cmichael1
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. I had the Preset Mode Switches set to Preset/Snap. From that mode the only to restore the "normal" Preset mode is as Lawrence said, by changing the Preset Mode Switches to "8 Presets". In that mode, hitting both Bank buttons puts it into 8 Snapshot mode. To exit back to Preset mode you can either hit Cancel or high both Bank buttons again. But there's apparently no footswitch method (besides Global Settings) to toggle between 8 Preset mode and Preset/Snap mode.

Hi, The Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Pages 45-50 is the section that features “Using Snapshots” and options. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - Rev F - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

No, not with a single button. One option is to think of this in reverse. Set the screen to 8 snaps then anytime you want presets a single press of a bank button (any one) will reveal your presets until you choose one... then back to snapshots (or stomps if you were already there) you go. Of course, we all have different workflows and that may not work for you. After I choose a preset I want instant access to my snapshots/stomps, not more presets. I have zero reason to always keep presets displayed, so that's why I keep them one click away.
MayPRS
For me it's always Preset/Snap -> I want to be able, on bottom row, to change snapshots as these are used on mid-song (so I need them to fire quickly). Once the song is over, I can change the preset on top row (or iterate thru banks if needed).
