Stephenasaurus
Hi, Apologies if this has been asked before but i'm pulling my hair out trying to sort this and I have a gig tonight! I recently purchased a 5150 combo which i love, however i'm having issues running the Helix LT through the effects loop. I have followed a number of videos on youtube, none of which seem to mention my problem nor solve it. I'll be as brief as a can... Basically, I think I am only hearing the effects loop most of the time. Its a clean signal. I can get the amps drive channels to work, but I also hear a clean signal over the top of it. Then if i use the delay in the loop, it just delays a clean signal? I have no idea what I've done wrong as the 4cm is set up exactly as the video suggests. In terms of the patch I have tried using the effects loop block as well as the send/return blocks. I still have the same problem. Just wondering if anyone has a quick fix? I should also mention that as soon as a plug any cables into the 5150 it cuts the sound from the instrument input. Is this normal?? I have also tried using the preamp out from the 5150 but this hasn't had any effect. Currently at work, so I cant try out anything for a few hours but I'd be very grateful for some help! Videos ive tried: Helix Minute: 4-Cable Method - YouTube How to do the 4 cable method with the Line 6 Helix (the EASY way!) - YouTube One last thing - I had a blackstar head and 2x12 cab before this 5150, set up the exact same way. I used the midi in the to switch channels as an addition to the 4cm. I never had any issues with the exact same setup im trying to use now. rd2rk
Do you have an FX Loop Block in the signal chain? Are you using the matching S/R jacks? Are you using the amp's S/R jacks, NOT the "Pre Out"? If you jumper the S/R jacks on the amp, are you still getting sound? Are you SURE all of your cables are good? Proper wiring using FX Loop 1 Block in signal chain: Guitar>Helix Input>Helix Send 1>Amp Input>Amp Send>Helix Return 1>Helix L/MONO Output>Amp Return EDIT: If you're using separate SEND and RETURN Blocks as some YT wizards suggest, is the "Dry Thru" on the SEND Block set to -120db? If not, that could explain the added "clean" signal you hear. The MIX on the RETURN Block should be 100%.
