I built an AI (Chat GPT) powered helper to help build Helix guitar tones

I can't help but think I don't need an AI to tell me the things this one did in this situation. Classic rock...let's see...a tube screamer and a Marshall. Maybe throw a chorus in there with some echo and reverb. I'd have to check out the settings but I guess I'm trying to say I don't see when I, personally, would use it.

I notice you require users to ‘sign up’ to use the tool. What information do you request, and what do you plan to do with it? Are there any fees?

I logged in with a little used Gmail account... but when it insisted on a phone verification (my phone number) I exited and will not return.

It'll only cost you a kidney... but don't worry, you can live quite happily with just the one, lol

That's nothing... after your free trial is up, you have to send them a complete set of dental records and a DNA sample. ;)

So, for clarity, to use this you need to be a ChatGPT Plus customer (it is built on their technology platform).

I don't require anything to use this custom GPT app, no sign up, no fee etc. and I get no compensation of any kind.

Personally, I use this as a creative tool for inspiration (which is what I recommend, vs. using it to replicate tones). There's plenty of artist tone packs you can buy that will get you way closer to the "real sound" if that's your goal (or if you have magic ears, which I don't). I get stuck in a rut with the same handful of models and barely tap into the hundreds of cabs, amps, pedals, legacy pedals, etc. available, so I like using this to give a creative spark and options of things that generally go together. I also use it as a guitar gear reference and ask it questions about how to use gear, different settings and DSP usage.

Rest assured, if you expect it to give you a perfect signal chain in the right order and tone of the gods, you will be disappointed. The technology isn't that good yet, especially if you ask it to replicate a specific tone from a song. YMMV.

Thanks for clarifying. So the request for signup is a ChatGPT request, not imposed by your ‘helper’? And if you use ChatGPT Plus the request is not made?

It’s an interesting tool and useful for some. Thanks for providing it.

That's correct. You're welcome! I'll be continuing to make updates... this is very early stage (and inconsistent) but I found it useful for my workflow regardless.
