1/4 cable doesn't emulates the guitars (JTV-69)

Recommended Posts

I don't know what else to do. I've been trying to understand what happened with my JTV-69 guitar, when I bought it, I used to use just a 1/4 cable and it was just plug and play but now the guitar just gets mute when I activate the push botton, when I deactivate it the regular mics works fine, all of them are ok but I try to use the simulations of other guitars using the 1/4 cable, the guitar just get mute, I think is something ablout firmware because the 1/4 port is working right. Everything is update it, I have done everything I know so far, I rollbacked, I roll fowarded. I think it has to exist a way to reset this system like unplugging the cable and then push the botton or something. Somebody knows how to solve this?
I already wrote to support team but they don't really helped me that much.

Here is a Google drive link you can se the video.

Yes, Is a brand knew battery.

  • Did the problem start with the "new battery"?
  • Is it a genuine battery, or third party?
  • I see in the video you show a full charge... but you do that with the modeling turned off. Check the status with the modeling on since that puts the load on the battery.

Do you have anything with a VDI port so you check to see if the modeling is working there?

Also, @psarkissiansuggests using a TRS cable, not a TS.... the cable in the video looks to be a standard TS (but I could be wrong).

No, I turn it on and off several times, and when is off, you can hear the pick ups sound of the Variax but when I start the push botton to use the emulations it just got mute, it work fine with the Variax cable through the HD500X witch I have.

@codamedia is the original battery.

No, that's not correct, I don't must use VDI cable to use the models, that's why the Variax has a battery just to emulate the guitars, that's would mean that if anyone wants to buy a Variax and don't have the whole setup with the pedal floor or whatever can't use the models, that would be not "smart" from Line 6, on the other hand, my JTV-69 use to work with the battery and the 1/4 cable emulating all guitars in it. I just don't know what happened now the guitar just get mute when I use ONLY the 1/4.

I have a link with a short video showing what's the situation, you are welcome to see it. @hurghanico

Also a good idea to us 1/4" TRS plug guitar cables.

Wouldn't using a TRS cable only apply when using the optional XPS-DI direct box/power supply? This is the first time I've seen mention of using a "TRS guitar cable" as a good idea to use with a Variax.  Which amps or modelers even have a stereo/balanced input for this to make a difference?

Sounds like OP has a bad 1/4" input jack.

I didn't mean to tell you the sentence written in my last post.

Actually I provided only the link to an old thread that has that sentence as the title, and in that thread someone who had a similar problem to yours found a working solution in silverhead's post

What is weird to me is if the 1/4" has any problems my pick ups wouldn't work, but they do when I don't use the emulations as soon as I activate the emulations the guitart just get mute. I think is a software problem, I have done I don't know how many flash memories so far, nothing works and it use to work.

Active circuit guitars use TRS (tip= signal, ring= +Vdc, sleeve= return), been that way since

at least the 1970's (when I started dealing with active circuit guitars).

I tried that and it didn't work anyways.
