Kenadams1
Hi I was wondering if anybody had some helpful information. The guitar is in like new condition and hasn’t been played much. It is setup perfectly with no buzzing or fretting out. The problem I’m having is when I set the guitar to half step down the high sounds very flat. Sometimes the bee string sounds off but most of the time it’s OK. Every other tuning it’s fine in. And it just seems noticeable when I have it on the acoustic settings. If I go to Lester it’s fine or not noticeable. I have tried adjusting the tuning multiple times. I’ve turned up the amp to make sure I wasn’t hearing the sound of the guitar and only hearing what’s coming out of the amp. I had the guitar set up just to be safe and I guarantee there is no buzzing. I have ran the guitar through different amps and use different cords. Charged the battery fully. It’s still doing it. New strings too. The guitar has been looked over multiple times and nothing obvious. If anyone has any ideas that would be appreciative. I really like the guitar and would love to keep using it, but I mainly use it for acoustic tones and it makes it difficult when I can’t use the half step down feature. The crazy thing is when I go a full step down it’s fine. Sounds normal drop the tuning is fine but when I go to drop the half step down, same problem as half step down. psarkissian
Could be dual tone effect, when hearing both the string from the guitar and the de-tune from the amp. Press Hi-E string at the highest fret, be sure the string distance between the magnetic pick-up pole piece and Hi-E string is 2mm (1/16 in, 0.07874 in).

Could be... but as he already stated, that's been ruled that out.
psarkissian
Other possibility would be warbling, hence the post about pick-up height adjust. Old strings is another.

"Sounds" very flat? Have you plugged into a tuner to see if it "is" very flat? That will quickly confirm if the guitar is the problem, or if it is just the environment (ears, room, volume, perception, reflection, etc...) Next time I get a chance I'll check my JTV...
