Stevelol
Hi all Is there a way to configure a preset where you can: 1) Have a selection of effects, E.G looper, reverb, delay, boost 2) Assign a variety of amps to one or multiple footswitches? I have a handful of amps that I use often, and a small number of effects that I like to have available for every preset. It would be nice to be able to tweak an effect and have that effect not change when I switch through different amp models. At the moment if I change an effect parameter or decide I'm preferring a plate instead of a spring reverb this month (for example) I have to copy and paste it through the other presets, which although is fairly easy (and do able with favourites) it still requires going into the menu. I've thought about just creating a preset with multiple preamps in (don't need a cab model as I use Helix 4cm or with my Powercab) but this is obviously DSP intensive. I'm trying to make my helix into as much of a pedalboard as possible and minimise the amount of menu navigating.

Hi, It looks like you have answered your own question. Yes, you can have more than one amp available and switch between them, but as you have realised you could well run out of DSP very quickly. I’m not sure that this would make life any easier, but what have got to lose? Give it a try. Hope this helps/makes sense.
Stevelol
Yeah you're right I may as well give it a try, it's been a while since I created a lot of new presets, I just figured I'd run out of DSP quickly, or that maybe there was a Helix feature that would accomplish what I want that I hadn't yet discovered, I'm always surprised by what this thing can do. Thanks

Thanks Yeah, I have been using my Helix floor since October 2015 and still surprise myself with what it can do. Anyhow, sometime forum user “Malhavoc” (Ben Vesco) had compiled a list of DSP allocations for each item in the HX firmware v.3.70. It appears that using only the preamp models will use considerably less DSP than full amps and because you can access 4 signal paths you may be in luck. Find it here: http://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
codamedia
I embrace the separation of presets when switching amps. I rarely find that the same effects settings work across different amps, tweaks are often required. I work on a master preset... then save that preset to multiple locations so all the pedal assignments and effect layouts are consistent. When I swap the amp in one of the presets I then make the tweaks to those effects to accommodate the change. This works for me because I only use a few amps. I really only have 3 live presets... a Fender, a Vox and a Marshall. Those have been in tact for several years now with minimal change. For those times where I decide I have a new favorite effect or effect setting, I simply save it as a favorite and load it in each preset rather quickly. Studio is a different game.... effects are kept minimalistic, and I'll tweak the amp models and cabs a lot more to get the source tones right.
