tf5bassist
I don't know if this will be possible to do to the extent that I'm looking for, but figured I'd give it a whirl. I know I can control my Helix from a Reaper session, and I'll be implementing those controls into our live set soon. But we're also trying to find the best way to trigger our backing tracks, and I'd love to be able to have a display that shows the song that's cued up. Think Oaktone Floor Vista, but for people with less-than-great vision who need a bigger screen. I believe that the Helix can send MIDI commands from Stomp Mode and it should also be able to receive MIDI commands, USB MIDI should be bidirectional without issue. The big question is: Can the Helix somehow receive a text string from Reaper, such as a Region label or cue Marker, and display that somewhere on the Helix Floor display? I've never seen it done, and I can't find any resources. I found a thread here asking about a notes field, but I never saw any further mention of it. Does anyone have any good news? Hi, The reason you have never seen it done is because it is not possible, and the reason you cannot find any resources is because they don’t exist. MIDI functions on the Helix are fairly basic, no SYSEX etc. The thread about “Notes” was started by someone requesting the feature to be implemented - if it were possible. Requests for features to be considered for possible future updates need to be logged on IdeaScale. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/line6 Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” in this forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. The full list of MIDI functions can be found on page 72 of the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
tf5bassist
Thanks both of you for the quick responses, and I appreciate the additional detail. I signed up for IdeaScale yesterday and submitted a Join request for the community, but I'm still awaiting that approval as of now, so I guess I'll just sit tight a bit more. I'll be sure to thoroughly search for any existing FRs that may already exist and upvote those, and good call on the use of the sticky thread here, thanks. Again, appreciate the help!
