Pod Hd500, Midi And Voicelive

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

So I know nothing about Midi. Ok I only know it allows devices to communicate.

I own a Pod HD500 and I'm thinking about getting a Voicelive vocal processor. Both devices have Midi connections. I'm just wondering: is there is a way that changing preset on the Pod HD500 can trigger changing to the appropriate preset on the Voicelive? This would be much more comfortable than having to jump with one foot on each device.

Thanks for your help!

yes - & that's ALL I know lol (you'd be able to change patches & other parameters on VL as well)

you'll have some readin 2 do :)

Thanks a lot, at least I know it's possible. There's work ahead indeed but it will be worth it!

OK - took a quick look thru the Advanced Guide for the HD - see Appendix B4 for info on configuring bank/program changes messages leaving the HD..

IF you have some form of sequencer/DAW, it might save you some time if you hooked up the voicelive to it's midi in/out, hit record, and start stepping thru the programs on the VL.  This would let you see the messages it sends out for a program change, which in turn would let you know what messages you need to send to it.  The sheer number of patches available on the HD may require you to get familiar with Bank Select messages, which can get kinda involved - we're cursed by our abundance of choices!

Like said above - lotsa reading, and trial and error - but it seems that you should be able to get things to work after a bit of poking and prodding...

Happy Hunting!

quick edit - go down thru those Appendixes a little further, appears that the HD has some pretty flexible midi send options, looks to me like you should be able to get on the right track fairly quickly...
