pkwon
I am very new to this and I am not a very smart person, but I have my HD 500 set up to my laptop and guitar, but I am not hearing any sounds coming out of it (and yes, the volume is up on my guitar, laptop, and HD500). I feel as if the answer to this would be something very simple. Thanks in advance.
silverhead
You need to connect speakers/monitors/headphones to the HD500 outputs. It becomes your soundcard, bypassing your laptop's internal soundcard to which your internal speakers are connected.
Charlie_Watt
It will not play through your laptop. You need to connect it to an amp or powered speakers. (or use headphones)
scottyo78
Exactly... Headphones are (usually) cheaper if you don't have or can't afford monitors yet and everyone typically has a pair laying around. ;)
pkwon
Thanks again, guys. I tried the headphones and didn't get anything. What's the type of cord I need to connect the HD500 to my amp? It's a Line 6 Spider IV, if that makes any difference.
silverhead
If you are not hearing any sounds from headphones connected to the HD500 you should check your patch/preset settings. Make sure you have your Guitar connected to the Guitar In jack, and then make sure your preset is using Guitar as one of its Inputs. Also check the Mixer settings to make sure you don't have the levels set to zero.
pfsmith0
And make sure your expression pedal is all the way to TOE.
alienux
If you disconnect the POD from your computer, do you hear anything through the headphones then? (Try with only the power cable, the guitar cable into "guitar in," and the headphones in the "phones" jack, and make sure the master volume control isn't down all of the way). Or, what happens if you plug a 1/4" cable into the Left(mono) 1/4" out and run it into the 1/4" input of your guitar amp?
