evanteatum
New Dream Rig Owner here JTV 59 HD500 DT25 - loving the tones, but not the learning curve. for example When I save a preset and then go back to it later ....the Exp pedal positions are not saved to where I had them in the preset, they are where ever they are physically at the time I go back to that preset. I am using EXP 1 for Volume and EXP 2 for various effects parameters. Shouldn't they automatically be set where I saved them until I engage( touch) the pedal . PS I still have yet to figure how create dual amp settings and split the acoustic signal to FOH and other signal to DT25 ( via Link6) and sometimes my VAriAX guitar setting is 'greyed out' and I cannot change the guitar choice Not finding much information on operations on Dream rig system as a whole unit , or am I not looking in the right place. Lots of splintered info out there. But I seems to me if tey are marketing the dream rig as a whole system there should be more specificity of information on here - or out there,
phil_m
Regarding the expression pedal setting and the physical positions of the pedals, that is just the way it works. Different manufacturers do it differently, but with pretty much all Line 6 products, the physical position of the pedal always effects the presets (assuming, of course, that the effects that are being controlled by it are on when you switch to the preset). To create a dual tone where you have one of the sides the acoustic and the other electric (the magnetic pickups on the Variax), you need to put the effects loop block at the end of the path of the tone you want to use for the acoustic. You would then use the effects send as the output for this tone. Beyond that it's just a matter of configuring your inputs correctly. Tboneous
I guess I can't post a YouTube link. But if you look up Dream Rig Tips and Tricks # 2, it helped me a lot with setting up dual tones. Tboneous
I tried that and when I published the url, it wouldn't show in the final posting. I'm sure it's a case of operator error. Let me try again. Maybe it doesn't work on my mobile device. You can post any YouTube link.. just copy and paste the videoclip url address directly in your post and it will show up and will be also directly playable.. hobbes40
you can check a few of my patches i've uploaded recently to customtone, see how to send electric (mags) to the DT25 (or other amp) and the acoustic model (variax model) to a PA/FOH. it's not hard to do and the method i used is based on Sean Halley's great videos and is different than the method mentioned above in this thread. spaceatl
If it were easy to have great tone, everyone would have great tone....And at that exact moment when everyone has great tone, no one has great tone... ;)
evanteatum
Thanks Hobbes I will check it out - Spaceatl - thanks?

Lots of splintered info out there. But I seems to me if tey are marketing the dream rig as a whole system there should be more specificity of information on here - or out there, Line6 have done a very poor job of documenting the dream rig as a complete product (and also as individual parts :) you can spot this simply by seeing how they've divided the forum into pod, amp and variax sections but nothing for dream rig, or interconnections. For something that is supposed to be well integrated, there is a lot of confusion, not just with the users but also in the support from line6 themselves. Its a smelly mess, unfortunately. aggravation
In the video linked above, where Sean Halley is sending the magnetic pickups thru the Plexi model and then he sends it out the Line 6 link just after the mixer, I'm assuming by connecting the Line6 link it forced the PodHD into the 'stack power amp' Output setting since he used a DT25 head.... But the XLR jacks are sending the Variax signal to a mixer/DAW....will that also be forced to the power amp output setting? If so is it less than optimal for a good Variax acoustic sound?
