peterthorpe
Dear Community, My screen has stopped working, the unit is 1 and a half years old. All other functions and sounds are working, so it is just the screen (it lights up but is blank except for a straight line across the top). I have updated the firmware to the latest and tried alternative power supplies as suggested in other forum-threads. Still the same problem. Any one else got another tips or had line 6 fix this problem? I am wondering how much it will cost - if it is worth it etc ... Is the POD HD 500 going to become an un supported legacy product soon? Cheers, Pete
bjnette
My screen is working fine but I understand your frustration. May I suggest you open a support ticket if under warranty. If not it is easy to open up the unit and check and recheck the ribbon cable connections which might of jiggled loose.
peterthorpe
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately the warrenty is 12 months and I have had it for 20 months  - haha I read on their site that repairs are outsourced, therefore they cannot give an estimate on the cost. That is why I am wondering if it is worth it, financially, and was wondering if anyone else on here had had their screen "fixed" and how much it was. Make sense? pfsmith0
I cannot remember exactly, but the display may be connected to the motherboard thru a ribbon cable. Perhaps it's as simple as the cable falling out of the connector. I did a quick search on opening the HD500 but couldn't find it but somewhere around here is a video showing how to open it. I mean, it's out of warranty anyway, right? It's not difficult (I've had to replace the USB jack) but just watch out for the spring-loaded foot switches. Try Googling on how to open the HD500.

Brazzy
Here's one video of some HD500 work, fixing the usb port. Maybe you can get him to fix your pod as he looks very very fast. My search words were "replacing usb on hd500". Here's a link to a thread on the LCD Screen >>> http://line6.com/support/topic/7716-what-lcd-screen-pod-hd500x-uses/ one of the posts have information pertaining to getting the LCD, check it out at the bottom of this post. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlY3sV4UXk4 Just in case anyone on United States goes through the pain of having a broken display for their POD HD500X, I found a store with the part. I can't get it yet because I live in Bolivia (and no one gives a lollipop about us) so I have to do a lot of lollipop to order stuff from United States... I'm glad I can still use my POD without any issues because the "black spots" on the screen get lost when the POD is turned on for like 15 minutes. Anyway, here's the number and part# of the lcd display of the POD HD500X Part# 50-02-0156 (LCD SCREEN, HD500X POD) $34.00 each + shipping If you would like to place an order, please have the part number ready and give our sales team a call at 800-356-5844 (please ask for sales) Full Compass Systems 9770 Silicon Prairie Pkwy Madison, WI 53593-8442 P: 608-831-7330 F: 608-831-6330 E: hionis@fullcompass.com
