JTV-69 Tremolo Bar

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a demo model JTV-69 but it was missing the Tremolo bar.  Guitar Center says they don't carry one for it.  Is there a generic that I can buy that will fit or where can I order a true Line 6 one?  Anyone know what they cost?

Thanks,

Mike

"Are the tremolo bars sold, interchangeable with the different models of JTVs"----

69 trem bars just works with 69's, the 30-51-0381 part number for the 2nd generation

bridges starting around 2011. That part number is still available.

No,... JTV and Variax Standard Trem Bars are totally different.

If you didn't get one, then log a ticket with Customer Support in

your account.

I don't see any in the inline store or Full Compass at this time.

CS would probably come to me as a last resort, since I service

guitars here and would have a spare part or two.

Tremolo Bars,...

--Early legacy  Variax trem bars are externally threaded, but will not fit

in the newer Variax Standard. The hole diameters and threading are

different, so they are not interchangeable with one another. See the

Line 6 online store for those.

--JTV69 (first generation bridge), no threading, locked at the top. At this

point a non-issue, since there are no more of those left. All gone.

--JTV69 (second generation bridge) is internally threaded a the bottom,

so between that and the set screw at the top, locks in good for a no wobble

operation. These are not interchangeable with other Trem bars Available

through Full Compass. See Stvekc's earlier post and photos.

--Variax Standard trem bar (and bridge) is modeled after the Fender Strat

type, and only fits the Variax Standard. I don't see any on the Line 6 online

store  or Full Compass at this time. So check in periodically there for availability.

What generation bridge uses the plastic bushing? Both?  I just bought a JTV-69s from musiciansfriend and the plastic bushing broke (in the middle of a guitar solo in the middle of a gig) after about two weeks of very sparse tremolo usage.

I returned the guitar, but would like to buy another.  Perhaps this was a first gen bridge? I need something  more road-ready and don’t want to have to worry about cheap plastic parts breaking on my tool.

Both generation use a bushing. Don't know if the early generation bushing is still available.

It's not the same as the current generation.

Are both generation’s bushings made of plastic?

If your statement about the two generations difference is the threading and locking difference, you’re definitely wrong about them being available, as the guitar I bought last month had no threading and locked at the top.

Warning people: this is still an issue.

All 69S bridges use the later version bridge, so will have

the internal threaded Trem Bar.

This may be inaccurate.  I bought a 69s with no threading and it had a locking mechanism on a non-threaded tremolo arm.  Maybe the screw was there in the body of the guitar (2nd gen bridge) and Perhaps the guitar was packed with a first gen tremolo arm, hence the troubles.
