Position of the 12AX7 tubes ?
by wolbai on 2011-05-26 13:12:44.4200

one (or both?) of my pre amp tubes in my DT50/212 seems to be damaged (crackling & rattling noise). Nothing new to that forum (and tube amps).

I try to fix that by replacing. Therefore I bought a Mesa Boogie 12ax7 for the input buffer and a groove tube especially designed for phase inversion.

So where is the position for each if you look at the rear of the combo, because I haven't found any information on that?

Thanks for help!

Rock on!

Looking up at the chassis from within the body cavity of the combo - V3 is the one to the left (towards the input jacks).  V4 (PI) is the one on the right (towards the power switch).

that is for a DT50 combo.  for the DT50 head it's the other way around.

for some reason Line 6 called the power tubes V1 and V2, so that's why the 1st preamp tube is V3 and the PI is V4.
