Flextone II Amp Problem-sounds like an Octave effect
by dirtysunday on 2012-01-22 10:51:16.8020

I'm having a similar problem to the ones I've just read.  I had a gig last night and I was using my one and only amp that I love: Flextone II 2 X 50 watt, 24 bit combo.  It's always been great, no issues ever.  Sound check went perfect.  However, when showtime started, I started with my usual intro using an Octave pedal.  When I stomped the pedal to turn off and jam some chords, my amp sounded like it was still using the Octave pedal!

Very quickly I took the Octave pedal out of my mix.  Still sounded awful.

I thought it might be my guitar, so I swapped and used another guitar.  Still awful.

Then I figured it was my cables.  Nope, still awful.

The amp is close to 10 years old so I'm wondering if it's time has come.  But to have this happen EXACTLY as I was starting my show was just strange.  Could it have died right then and there?  Could there have been a power surge?  Did my Octave pedal do the dirty deed, though I've been using it without issues for months???

Any thoughts, my fellow rock stars????

Oh, and my band is Dirty Sunday from Worcester, MA.  We have some Youtube vids up, I'd share a link but I know it's not the place to do that.

Please help!

The first thing to try is adjusting your presets incase somehow it was a simple parameter change that caused the bad tone. The next step is try and reset the amp, which will erase previous presets, to do so:

Hold down A, B ,C, and D while powering the unit on.

If this does not fix the problem, the next step is to have a Line 6 Service Center assess the amp for repair. You can locate a service center in your area by using our finder available at the link below:">">
