Line 6 Pod HD Bean, usb/recording problem
by jmotzfeldt on 2012-05-19 10:26:59.9170

Got my pod hd bean a few days ago. I used line 6 monkey to update it, I already had the program because I previously owned a UX2(had no problems with it)

But when I select it as my default playback device, or try to use it in REAPER, I've had several problems. At first I was able to use it in reaper, record and use it as a soundcard, but after approximately 20 minutes REAPER froze, and I haven't been able to use it with my computer ever since. It connects to my computer, drivers are ok, but i can't use it as a soundcard and reaper doesn't get any signals from it.

The default driver when I connected it to REAPER was WaveOut. I have tried restarting my computer and the pod hd, and I had a signal for about 20 seconds, this time i used asio drivers in reaper. The last time i tried i got a BSOD.

I used WhoCrash, and I got this:

crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini051812-01.dmp

This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrnlpa.exe (nt+0xCD1CB)

Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFFFF875E4028, 0xFFFFFFFF875E4028, 0xFFFFFFFF84EB1818)

file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe

product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System

company: Microsoft Corporation

description: NT Kernel & System

Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state.

This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.

The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

My computer is also fully updated. Windows Vista, Acer Aspire laptop.

What can I do to make it work?

I have no solution for your problem, but the best advice i can give you is to get rid of windows vista. I also experienced many freezes but in cubase.

After buying windows 7 my problem was solved, it turned very stable from now one. Sound also improved alot.

Glenneke is correct. ntkrnlpa.exe is a Windows process that can cause freezes and BSOD issues if it becomes corrupt. My guess is that having the HD connected is somehow "aggravating" the issue while the process is trying to run. I would make sure that all drivers for the HD are up to date and then contact Microsoft for steps on how to reinstall ntkrnlpa.exe .">">
