Mic modeling control
by rmclawhorn on 2012-08-16 09:41:23.2980

So I was thinking the other night as I was a/b'ing some mics, for live sound reinforcement purposes, wouldn't it be much better for a tech to have access to change the Mic model from the receiver rather than the transmitter? I know that I have not experimented with the modeling feature much because I cant just stop in the middle of a sound check to walk to stage to change the setting on the transmitter.  Whereas if I could change it from the receiver end, I could change it on the fly to really compare the sounds to see which sounds best.  So i guess I'm just throwing out what may be something to consider for a future firmware update...

Good idea ... but the models live in the transmitter so it would require sending the control signal back to the transmitter and a receiver in the transmitter to accept it.

As a grizzled old veteran, I quite like the discipline imposed by me being face to face with a problematic performer, satisfying their "must have" model requirement before their amazed eyes ...and then walking back to the mixing position.

I worry that the "discovery" by such a person of even the existing (admittedly huge) flexibility at my console could yield endless "Why don't we try..." niggles over the entire gig.

Then again, ...maybe it's just an "aged Aussie" thing.
