I found an upgraded driver for the Line 6 KB37 at http://line6.com/software/ under "Downloads". Until I downloaded, installed, and restarted my MacBook Pro running OS 10.12.2, I couldn't get my computer (or GarageBand) to recognized any midi input. Now it works great.
