you have hit on some of the issues I have had with the SV. I have a FBV shortboard mk11 that helps me control the presets. It is definitely cumbersome to program all of the presets and volumes. That separate volume issue is a nuisance especially when playing at low volumes which I mainly do at rehearsals. The shortboard connection via ethernet cable is not optimum either as it sometimes doesn't connect well and weird things can happen.
Yes it is damn heavy!
I was wondering if the manual setting might be a good option to do, along with some regular pedals? This way I could just change the amp setting only, setting the tone and reverb and then allow the foot pedals to give me the gain, effects, etc.
I know it defeats the purpose of the inbuilt effects, but most of the time you don't need all of them anyway.
