  1. Thanks for the heads up on the not having a load for the amp! I had completely forgot that part of the equation, but luckily I have not gotten around to the 4cm yet. I did run into the latency issues monitoring with pc. I can play mp3's from the pc and monitor with the Pod through headphones though, so good enough. I am going to try and run my M-audio Delta 44 for pc monitoring to see if it will handle the latency issues better, but not the end of the world.
  2. Thanks for the help! I will try the 44, if that doesn't cut it, will have to figure something else out. The issue I have is that the mp3's are on my pc (played through winamp), and the pod and pc interface has to be combined to send the audio through my receiver on the one I/O. I guess I could use an mp3 player direct into the pod though, good idea. On a side note, this 500 sounds great and really liking the variety. It is light years better than the 2.0 I had, which I considered pretty useful in its day.
  3. Running the 500 USB to the pc. The pc is hooked into my home theater setup via HDMI, Yamaha receiver, 5.1 surround polk audios, middle of the road consumer setup. and I use a tv as a pc monitor. I listen to music, youtube etc that way. I want to be able to jam along with mp3's but I am getting a slight delay, which I assume is latency, between fretting a note and hearing the note. I have the 500 set to "listen to this device" through default playback device. My soundcard is a cheap, onboard Realtek apparently without ASIO. Is this the problem? I have tried a line out from the phones to the line in on the soundcard and its no better. I also adjusted buffer, etc in sound properties in windows 7. I have an M-Audio Delta 44 sitting around somewhere I can install. I used to use it for the pod 2.0. Would this be a better option for playback (run 500 usb to pc and run l and r 1/4's or xlr out to delta 44)? Should I get a different soundcard? I can run mp3's back through the 500 and jam along with them on headphones just fine (plugged into the pod), just not with the surround speakers.
  4. I am after best of both worlds for recording, and just and to make sure I am understanding this correctly. I had a Pod 2.0 for years that I loved, but it was broken in a move about 6 years ago. I always wanted a Soldano, so bought one at the time, and love playing it. I am married w/ 3 kids living in the 'burbs however, so cranking that monster into the proper range is not a frequent occurrence. I ordered the new 500x and a decent pair of phones so I can play/record direct into pc. I was reading that I can use the pre/power amp of the Soldano with the four cable method and go directly into the pc. I can just disconnect the cabinet and use a cab sim right? I would love a way to capture the tube amp essence while running the Pod through the phones. I also have a TC Electronics G Sharp in the effects loop of the Soldano. How could I incorporate all 3? If I had the pre/power and reverb/modulation from an outside source, it would leave a lot of room more effects/DSP on the 500 right? I am not looking to play exclusively this way, just wondering about the options. I look forward to having a large variety of tones again, and the ability to play late at night as loud as my ears can take it. Thanks for the help, sure to be doing a lot of reading with this new toy lol.
