I to was disappointed with the acoustic settings until I changed to an acoustic amplifier, or in my case on a Yamaha THX10C use the acoustic mode. Now it sounds like an electro acoustic, caution it will never sound like a natural wooden acoustic. IMHO it (Strat version) is a very good guitar and well worth the money :)
