  1. I use the pod in full per power amp mode with speaker emulation on, this helps me to get the basic distortion close to the original. I then turn off cab before recording my version, I've only just discovered that this seems to work better. Then after the IR is made and loaded into the Torpedo, it is applied in the signal chain after the Pod using the exact setting that were recorded in: Studio direct with speaker set to no cab. Make sure EQ resolution in Ozone is set to highest (3hz) I sometimes put my IR into Reaverb (free convolution plugin in Reaper) to test my recording. You'll know that your on the right track if bypassing Ozone and running the IR in Reaverb sounds identical. I'm beginning to notice that my approach works great for crunch, break up and djent sounds, but it is far far harder to achieve good results on clean sounds. My big goal at the moment is to try and use this set up to get piezo style acoustic sounds. I think it's possible but I'm not there yet I put a full detailed step by step on this forum, maybe you can spot something here that you might have missed http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=163803
  2. Gear Head: you can find mog files on the internet which are like stem files that have all the isolated instrument tracks of some well known songs. I think a lot of them were ripped from games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Just Startin': I Use full Pod patches Amp - Cab - Mic and FX, get you POD patch as close as possible to the track you're trying to emulate. The most important thing here is to get the FX right and match the gain and gain type (preamp gain vs Power section gain). Then use Ozone to make a tone match EQ, use any of the free convolution plugins to make that tone match into an IR. Load IR into Topredao CAB. There are lots of tutorials of this on youtube I run the Torpedo CAB in the FX Loop (This way I can use the FX return to adjust the level coming back from the CAB, and it also means all the POD output options such as L6Link etc are still usable. Still experimenting with the process and signal chain and I'll keep you updated. But I think it's a cool resource for guys who play in Tribute bands and cover bands who want closer to the original artist sound
  3. Just got a Torpedo CAB to run in the FX loop of my POD HD500x. Used Ozone 5 to eq match my patches to the original artists tone and loaded the IRs into the Torpedo. Here's the result I am so much happier with my POD now can't stop playing!
  4. Cheers for the replies, Yep radatats that's a UX2 on all my albums, it has served me we'll. Thanks for checking us out :) I suppose my post was just a rant, I was so annoyed by both things letting me down, I wouldn't have been as angry if it wasn't such a great system, I had very high hopes cos it sounded awesome before it blew. Looks like I'll get them fixed under warranty so: result, I will use this system again but only for local gigs,
  5. I recently completed a European tour as guitarist for a well known international act. For this tour I purchased a Stagesource Lt2 and Pod HD500x. Thankfully I brought my Marshall as a backup because on the first day of the tour the Stagesource started producing a distorted sound, and a few days in the Pod switches became faulty and kept switching the pod into tuner mode. I ended up using my marshall for the remainder of the 6 week tour. This was extremely disappointing as I've always been a supporter of Line6. Has anyone else had an experience like this with these products. I've read people on this forum before saying that L6 products are not gig worthy I now understand this sentiment and will have difficulty trusting this company again for live use. L6 support has been pretty poor considering my high profile failure with their products. Anyone got any ideas what I should do?
